Tayler's retainer

I finally got around to taking the girls to the dentist. If you don't remember my ex took the opportunity to give me a hard time about it (here) but we didn't have dental insurance and life has just been a crazy whirlwind and blah blah but now insurance is in place so I finally hauled the girls off to the dentist. A very cool one we might add. They had a big room with five chairs in it, so they filed the circus in and did one mass session of cleanings and check ups. The dentist called me over while he was looking at Tayler and showed me that she has what he called a cross bite. Notice that the lines between her upper and lower middle teeth don't match up, and notice that on her right side (being the left side of the pic) her upped teeth go behind the lower teeth, instead of over them.
That requires a retainer to line the teeth up to where they're supposed to be. And now would be the time to do it, before her permanent teeth start coming in and her jaw starts becoming solid.
Tay has been such a trooper. She was miserable on the first day, but mainly because while her mouth was numb (she also had two cavities filled when they glued the retainer in) she bit her lip, not being able to feel it, and left a nasty bruise, and a bit of a cut. Still, two days later her lip is still quite swollen and bruised. So when the numbing wore off, she was not at all happy with what she started to feel. Other than that, she doesn't cry or whine about the pain, or tenderness of the retainer. She simply lets me know that she would like some Tylenol, or something softer to eat than the rest of us because she just doesn't want to chew right now.
