hey - my pile is about that size too! I have a basket just for socks without a mate! Sad really! ;) (Oh - and my latest book is called "King of Kings" and it's all about the Savior's life - pretty good stuff!)
Steph, sadly my mismatched sock pile is bigger than yours... I swear I have been collecting them for years, I just know the match will turn up the second I throw them out... So, I keep them. lol
Looks familiar! Unmatched socks now have a home at my house so i don't think about them. I put them in a pile for each kid, they fold them, or not, and put them away. If they have no match, they sit and sit and sit in their own drawers, without me thinking about them, and then when they grow out of them, I chuck the non-matched ones. A sanity saver for me. Non matched socks are just awful, don't you think?!
Sadly, these are the socks with out matches...

OH MY! That's so funny. All those socks and baskets...I might have to re-think my desire for six kids......naahhh whats the fun in that!
